This is one of those subjects that can be uncomfortable to discuss but is very important to many Lake Norman area home buyers. As a Realtor, I want to provide as many resources as possible so that you can find any information you may need to feel comfortable about your family’s safety. Whether you are moving to Lake Norman or already own a home here, I hope you will familiarize yourself with the following website: www.ncfindoffenders.gov

On this North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry website you can type in an address and search by 1, 3 or a 5 mile-radius to see not just how many registered sex offenders live in the area but also their home addresses and photos.

On this same website you can also sign up to be notified by email if a sex offender reports moving in or out of the radius of the address you requested.

Buyers many times ask me if a neighborhood is “safe". The very best way for anyone buying real estate in Lake Norman or anywhere to learn about crime rates and data is to contact the local town police department. And, thanks to legislation like Megan’s Law, we now have this sex offender registry available as well.
