Lake Norman Newcomers Bring Their Favorite Foods With Them!Leave a comment »
Lake Norman’s real estate is not all that its growing due to the new found popularity of our wonderful lake, waterfront homes, schools, weather and quality of life. Not far behind, one by one, us “Transplants” to Lake Norman from other states are bringing our favorite restaurants, eateries and markets with us! What was once an area with local southern-style foods is now home to some of the best and greatest variety of foods from all over the US. Two of our newest members of the Mooresville, Lake Norman community are from Philadelphia: Rita’s Ice Custard Happiness and The Philly Pretzel Factory just opened side by side in the new Mooresville Crossing shopping center with Best Buy, Bed Bath and Beyond and Staples on Highway 150 just west of Williamson Road. (591 River Highway, Mooresville)
One of the toughest part of researching for my Lake Norman Real Estate blog is that I have to experience what I write about. My first stop was Rita’s Ice Custard Happiness where I had samples of several flavors of their Italian Ices and Custards. Needless to say I bought a quart of their Lemonade Ice to go! Rita’s makes their 38 flavors of “cool treats” fresh every 2 days offering 8 of their flavors daily. The frozen custard tastes a bit like deliciously flavored frozen whipped cream and their ices are made with real fruit and have a wonderfully smooth texture. The Rita’s in Mooresville is the first in the greater Charlotte area. 704.664.RITA.
If you like soft pretzels, you will love the Philly Pretzel Factory. Again, I myself to eat a warm, salted pretzel just to make sure they were good enough to write about. I was not disappointed! The idea behind the Philly Pretzel Factory is to offer hand-twisted, hot, freshly baked soft pretzels salted or seasoned and served with a variety of dips from melted cheese to mustard. They offer party trays, large boxes for business meetings, and even custom pretzels and pretzel dogs.
