3rd Annual Wiener Race is Sept. 8th in Downtown Mooresville!1 comment »
Do you ever hear about something and dismiss the seriousness of it almost immediately because it is just too silly? When I originally heard about Mooresville's Dachshund Race I simply laughed. The image of the little weiner dogs running in a race was so cute that I decided I really wanted to go just for the sheer fun of it all. When I decided to write a blog about the event I started asking questions and the answers simply blew me away. Not only is this a serious event, but "ringers" are brought in from other states much to the displeasure of the local dachshund owners. http://www.bestrealestatelakenorman.com/000D9B Posted on August 28, 2007 16:47:19 by Diane Aurit

Lake Norman Real Estate: Are We Swimming in the Number of Homes for Sale?
All Real Estate is Local, Especially in Lake Norman!
Today's headline in the Charlotte Observer's Business Section was: Home sellers beware; Worst slump in 16 years likely to deepen, analysts say. Of course, this is only the latest of an almost daily pounding of the real estate market in both the national and local news. And, there is no doubt that in real estate offices all around us agents are talking about the down market as well. Rather than jump on the hysteria band wagon I decided to take a quick look at recent Lake Norman real estate sales and inventory numbers in our MLS (Multiple Listing Service). http://www.bestrealestatelakenorman.com/000DAC Posted on August 28, 2007 15:28:58 by Diane Aurit

Lake Norman Restaurant Review: The Rusty Rudder in Cornelius![]()
A Lake Norman Restaurant Review By Kathy K.
I know most folks living in the Lake Norman area have more than likely already enjoyed a great meal at The Rusty Rudder or at the very least have heard of it but since this blog is viewed by so many transplants new to the area I thought it fitting to let them know about this jewel of a place to eat as well. First of all, you can't beat the view! It's located right on Lake Norman with awesome views and plenty of transient boat slips for those who prefer to come by boat. There are two bar areas...one inside and another outside. The same is true for dining...inside for those who prefer the air conditioning and a two tiered deck outside for those willing to brave the heat. The first tier is completely shaded and with several ceiling fans keeps the deck very comfortable even on those humid, 90 plus degree days and the deck below has tables with umbrellas for shade. We sat on the second deck under the umbrella on a 90 degree day and the breeze kept us quite comfortable though the flies and wasps were a bit pesky. On occasion there is live entertainment as well. http://www.bestrealestatelakenorman.com/000D92 Posted on August 27, 2007 10:24:17 by Diane Aurit

Lake Norman: The Amazing Maize Maze Opens Today!
How would you like to get lost in a giant corn maze, learn a bit of local history and help preserve the historic 1760 homestead "Rural Hill" located right here in Huntersville Lake Norman all at the same time? I remember hearing something about a corn maze but I had no idea it was in Huntersville until I read a recent article in the Charlotte Observer! Okay, so let me break this down for you all newcomers and transplants: http://www.bestrealestatelakenorman.com/000D85 Posted on August 25, 2007 17:54:32 by Diane Aurit

How a Short Sale Can Enable Sellers to Avoid Foreclosure
Hardly a day goes by without at least one article in the newspaper about the increasing foreclosure rates, even in the greater Charlotte and Lake Norman area. What many sellers facing a possible foreclosure don't know is that there is another option. They, with the help of their attorney and Realtor, may be able to negotiate what is called a Short Sale which will enable the seller to sell their home for less than the debt owed against the property. The reality for the lenders is that foreclosures require a lot of work; not just processing the foreclosure but also listing and selling the foreclosed property. So, they may be willing to take less than the full amount of the loan balance due in order to avoid foreclosing on the property. I did my first short sale transactions back during the recession in the early 1990's. They require a lot of work and patience on the part of the buyers and the sellers but they do work. So how do you begin? Here are the first steps: http://www.bestrealestatelakenorman.com/000D7A Posted on August 24, 2007 07:58:13 by Diane Aurit
