In response to: Finding the Truth About Lake Norman's Housing Market: A Case Study

all good info-if difficult to gather... suppose I wanted to compare ahome in the farms with one in the Pointe? My key question though is how would I know I was getting a "good deal" on a particulalr home? In other words, what "should " the home sell for? Especially in light of this recent article of falling prices...

In response to: Lake Norman Real Estate: A community is lost forever

I am a descendent of James Constantine Mayhew the brother of John Love Mayhew. Now that I have hit the grand old age of 50 (which my grandfather indicated is the golden year that I might know something, hah, the jokes on him, I still don't know anything!) Anyway, I digress....I am so grateful that you had the compulsion to photograph this grand old house. I am researching my family history for my grandchildren although at this point I don't think they really care, I hope that some day they do. John Love Mayhew accompanied James Cook when the Hawaiian Islands were "discovered". And since I live in Hawaii that is especially meaningful to me. So, mahalo again for this piece of my family history.

In response to: Going Green in Lake Norman: Home tour today and Sunday, July 19 - 20th, 2008!

Hi Diane,

Thanks so much for posting this info on our Green Home Tour.

It was a huge success. There were over 250 people who came through the tour over the two weekend event and we raised over $3000 for Our Towns Habitat for Humanity! It is obvious that there is growing interest in sustainable building in our community.

In response to: The Catawba Valley NC Pottery Festival is March 22. Great Face Jugs!

Hi...Enjoyed reading about your interest in face jugs and the Catawba Valley show. I was there about three years ago and plan to show there again, perhaps 2009. To see a different kind of face jug and story, take a look at my web site. www.blackpotter.com

Thanks! Potter Jim
